Enterprize Zone Tax Credit Information for Employers

To better assist employers receive Enterprise Zone Tax Credits (EZA), the Louisiana
Department of Labor has revised the process for employers to determine EZA tax credit eligibility on the employees that they hire.

In order for the employer to receive the EZA tax credit, a newly hired employee must have received a service/activity from one of the Louisiana Works Career Solutions Centers within six months prior to their hire date (defined as public assistance in the EZA regulations.)

A job seeker must receive at least one of these services prior to being hired:
1. Staff referral on the employer job vacancy
2. Self-referral on the employer job vacancy
3. Resume assistance
4. Skill assessment
5. Job-search assessment
6. Other staff assisted services such as information on the local labor market area

Louisiana Works Career Solutions staff will be glad to assist the employer place the job vacancy in the Department of Labor's Internet based system, Louisiana Virtual One-Stop (LAVOS), prior to the hiring process. Local Career Solutions Center staff will also assist the employer recruit qualified job seekers for the job vacancy.

Verification Process:
In order to determine actual eligibility to receive an EZA tax credit the employer will
either email or mail a list of their hires to the address or email below for verification by
Department of Labor as to whether the new employee(s) received assistance from the
local Career Solutions Center prior to the hiring date. The list should be in excel format and include the following information: the first and last name of the new employee, hire
date, last four digits of the social security number, and date of birth (MM/DD/YYYY).
The employer will no longer need to refer newly hired employee(s) to the local Career Solutions Center to fill out forms, as in the past. If you have any questions regarding the verification process, please contact the administrative office at

that the request was made, unless otherwise noted by the employer.
